In the project, Solar thermal collector is to be used for water heating purposes which will act as an alternative for a conventional electric heater. Can we claim points under Criterion 9: Renewable energy utilization using this strategy?. What documentation is required to demonstrate compliance? The project team has checked with most of the vendors, and they are not able to provide a simulation report (RET software).
Solution
Yes a solar water heating system can be used to demonstrate renewable energy offset in a project. The project team must run and submit a RET screen simulation (or any other software) to show energy savings by installation of a solar hot water system.
