Is it mandatory for the VOC values of exterior paints to comply with Criterion 26 (GRIHA Version 03)

Query

We have proposed a silane/siloxane treatment on the external face of the building as water / algae/fungal repellent coating. The DSR item regarding the work calls for the use of turpentine as a solvent/diluent, which may be a VOC. Can this treatment be used on the building since the application is only on the exterior surface, not on any internal surface?

Solution

Use of this treatment on the building will not impact its GRIHA compliance as GRIHA does not evaluate external wall finishes/treatments. To achieve point in Criterion 26 GRIHA Version 03, VOC level of the interior paints must meet the threshold.
