(#953) SRI > 0.5; Landscape area unavailable on project site

Query

Our project is willing to pursue SVA GRIHA Certification. There are certain queries as follows:

1. Based on the calculations required under Criterion 1: Reduce exposed hard paved surface on site -Can materials with SRI finish > 0.5 be used to comply with this criterion’s requirements? Also, the Project is part of a campus with multiple blocks. Out of these multiple blocks, only one structure and a narrow landscape strip around the building will be considered for certification. Hence, our query is that since there is not enough space for tree plantation, can trees be planted in the adjacent landscape area, for meeting the criterion requirement?

Response

Responses to your queries are mentioned below:
Query:  Based on the calculations required under Criterion 1: Reduce exposed hard paved surface on site - Can materials with SRI finish > 0.5 be used to comply with this criterion’s requirements?
1.  As per compliance requirements, at least 50% of the total paved area on site should either be soft-paved and/or shaded under trees/pergolas/solar photo-voltaics, use of materials with finishes of SRI > 0.5 would not be accepted as a strategy for compliance.

2. Project team can plant trees within the site boundary/campus boundary under their control.
