Building design to be constructed in villages in hot and dry climate, where glass window is not a suitable option and client intends to use MS windows with iron grill and no glass. So how can we comply with the SHGC requirement?

Query

We have a typical building design that is proposed to be constructed in various villages in hot and dry climate, where glass window is not a suitable option and client intends to use MS windows with iron grill and no glass. So how can we comply with the SHGC requirement?

Solution

Since the windows do not have glass, there is no need to comply with SHGC requirement. The SHGC will be considered as 1 for the purpose of calculation. Because once the window is open (during the day); it will behave like a void.
