We are proposing transplantation for the existing trees on site. However, there is not enough space available on site. Can we transplant the trees in any forest area after taking due permission from the respective authority?

Query

We are proposing transplantation for the existing trees on site. The landscape architect has tried to accommodate the maximum possible trees in the landscape design. However, there is not enough space available on the site. Can we transplant the trees in any forest area after taking due permission from the respective authority?

Solution

No, the transplantation or compensatory plantation must be done within the site/campus for demonstrating compliance in Criterion 02 (GRIHA Version 3). A project specific discussion with GRIHA Council is usually done in unique cases to ensure proper course of action.
